How We Work

Step One: Get in touch!

Call or email us to book a consultation with one of our immigration lawyers or our immigration consultant. Our receptionist cannot give you immigration or legal advice. Consultations give us an opportunity to fully understand your particular situation, and devise an immigration strategy best suited to you.

Step Two: Initial consultation

Once we’ve scheduled you in for a consultation, we’ll gather some information from you, have you sign a consultation agreement and provide you with payment details ahead of the meeting.

Our initial consultations are always a single flat fee of $350+HST if meeting with one of our lawyers, or $250+HST if meeting with our immigration consultant, Katie.

Each consultation consists of a 1-hour meeting via Zoom (online) or by telephone with a member of our team. During this consultation, we will assess whether and how we can help you achieve your immigration goals. If we can help, we will usually be able to provide a quote for a flat fee on legal services during this consultation. A follow-up email summarizing the meeting and reviewing your potential options going forward will also be provided by our team.

Step Three: Sign a retainer and agree upon a payment plan

If, after your initial consultation, you feel that you would like to retain us, a retainer agreement will be drawn up, signed and from there we will begin working with you in a more direct and personal capacity. For most substantive immigration applications, the bulk of the work will happen via email correspondence, but we are happy to accommodate phone calls, Zoom calls and in-person meetings depending on your preferences. Once the application is finished and ready to submit, we’ll make another appointment for you to review the application forms, sign them, and lastly, we’ll submit the application on your behalf. For more complicated matters like refugee claims and humanitarian and compassionate applications, the majority of the work will happen during in-person meetings.

Step Four: Follow-Up

We will make a note of the standard processing times for the type of application you have submitted, and schedule reminders to follow-up with Immigration Refugees and Citizenship Canada if we pass those standard processing times without hearing back on your application. We cannot guarantee that your application will be processed by any particular date, but we can certainly commit to helping you put your best foot forward and to follow up with IRCC on your behalf!
