Katie Tinker has long held an interest in travel and cultural exchange. After earning her BA in English Literature, she spent most of her twenties living in and exploring Europe, before returning to Canada in 2008 to complete her Master’s Degree in Development Economics

Katie became licensed as a Registered Canadian Immigration Consultant (RCIC) in May of 2024, but has worked in the immigration field since 2012. Between 2012 and 2018, she worked as a Case Manager for the not-for-profit Halifax Refugee Clinic. Katie worked closely with clients from all over the world, helping guide them through the process of applying for refugee protection in Canada. She also handled many Humanitarian and Compassionate applications.

Katie began working as Grace Allen’s paralegal in the summer of 2019, a role which enabled her to develop a broader knowledge of Canadian immigration law. In 2021, she enrolled part-time in the Graduate Diploma program in Immigration and Citizenship Law through Queen’s University, which she completed in summer 2023. Katie achieved top honours in the program, and was awarded the CAPIC-ACCPI Award of Academic Excellence as well as the Legal Professionals Education Network Scholarship in recognition of her hard work.

Katie has experience working on many types of immigration files, including family sponsorship applications, Express Entry, NS Provincial Nominee and Atlantic Immigration Program applications, Citizenship, visitor visas, work and study permits, and refugee/humanitarian applications.

In her spare time she enjoys travel, music, spending time with family and friends, and being outdoors – especially by the water.
